Tokeneke Kids Care Club

The Tokeneke Kids Care Club is an organization dedicated to helping the students of Tokeneke develop the spirit of charity and pro-active compassion through hands-on community projects. We work together to make a difference in our school, our community, and our world–but we also save time each meeting for fun, games, and snacks!

The Tokeneke Kids Care Club is open to interested students (first through fifth grade).

Our meetings typically take place the second Monday of most months of the school year from 2:55-3:55 pm in the Common Room. Meetings will generally feature a guest speaker, a creative project and a nut-free snack. Past Kids Care activities include projects such as clothing drives and food collections and annual events such as the turkey drive and Groove-a-thon. Join this school year and help make a difference in our community!

Please note Kids Care Club is a popular activity — so please only sign up if you expect your child will be able to participate in scheduled meetings. This year there will be a $20 annual registration fee to pay for activities, supplies and snacks.

Please note that financial scholarships are available if needed. Email tokenekekidscareclub@gmail.com for more information.

The Kids Care Club Committee requests that a parent/guardian (or related grown-up, nanny or child care provider) volunteer for at least one meeting for the 2019-2020 school year.

Darien pen pal program connects seniors to children

Children in the Tokeneke Kids Care Club write to seniors in a new pen pal program through At Home in Darien.

A pen pal program gives seniors an opportunity to share wisdom or a piece of personal history.  In addition to developing a special relationship with a senior, the program gives students the opportunity to practice their writing and communication skills which will be invaluable later in life.

Executive Director, At Home In Darien

Children in the Tokeneke Kids Care Club write to seniors through a new pen pal program.

I like the idea of a pen pal because I know everyone in second grade and everyone in the school, but with a pen pal, I can make friends and reach out across the world and say ‘hi’ to people.

Student, Tokeneke School

The free (pen pal) program pairs seniors from At Home in Darien with children from the Tokeneke Elementary Kids Care Club, an after-school program for children in first through fifth grade that focuses on community involvement and service.
